There can be no doubt that U.S. social media platforms that became behemoths thanks to the patronage of American users are big enough now that they no longer need to hide their left-wing anti-American bias.
And Twitter is one of the worst for that bias.
In recent days, the platform locked down the account of Lauren Witzke, who is running for the U.S. Senate in Delaware as, of course, a Republican (because left-wing Democrats can say and do whatever they want on Twitter and other social media platforms).
Her ‘offense’? She dared to highlight a truth that tens of millions of Europeans know because they are living it: Mass immigration to the continent enabled by the socialist dirtbags who run the European Union has ruined the cultures and social stability in one country after another.
“Let’s be clear, mass migration absolutely destroyed Europe,” said Witzke in her tweet. “Italy, France, Sweden and Germany took in tons of migrants who never assimilated. Rapes, murders, and other heinous crimes abound. I will end ALL immigration into the US for ten years.”
Her claims about the crime rates increasing thanks mostly to migrants is absolutely true.
In an August 2019 piece titled, “Europe’s Fading Cosmopolitan Dream,” Joel Kotkin writes for City Journal:
In headier days, Europe’s leaders dreamed of a multicultural continent, its aging cities saved by millions of new migrants eager to join a stable, prosperous urbanity. This was the promise behind former U.K. prime minister Tony Blair’s Cool Britannia, the multicultural fervor of Herman Lebovics’s Bringing the Empire Back Home: France in the Global Age, and the early enthusiasm that greeted Germany’s refugee influx in 2015—estimated now at 1.6 million.
That dream has faded, with Europeans now opposing new migration by wide margins. Once-peaceful German and Swedish cities have seen a spike in crime, a resurgence of anti-Semitism, and growing political unrest—all associated with the migrant influx.
Kotkin goes on to cite statistics and studies, not conjecture and opinion. For instance, four years ago, in 2016, Pew Research discovered that 59 percent of Europeans surveyed believed that mass immigration imposed a great burden on their societies.
A Newsweek report in January 2018 laid out more stats: A nearly 11 percent increase in violent crime in Germany was linked to the massive influx of immigrants there, most of them from Muslim-majority countries.
And these are just two examples. There are many others — the point being that Witzke’s statement is absolutely true.
But because the country-destroying, open-border leftists at Twitter don’t like hearing the truth about the negative aspects of mass migration, they locked Witzke’s account — just like the Chinese Communists would do — claiming her truth bomb violated the platform’s rules against “hateful conduct.” (Related: New feature lets iPhone users see when an app is spying on them.)
In comments to Breitbart News, Witzke said she would be part of any effort to address big tech censorship if she manages to win her seat in deep-blue Delaware, home to socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders.
“This is yet another example of Twitter, which is partially owned by a Saudi Arabian prince, interfering in American elections,” she said.
“If Democrats in Congress really cared about election meddling like they’ve claimed for the past four years, they’d work with Republicans and President Trump to end Big Tech censorship, which we all know is weaponized against conservatives,” Witzke added.
“Social media censorship is the Civil Rights issue of our time, and when I’m in the U.S. Senate, I will hold these Silicon Valley monopolies accountable. They will respect the First Amendment and stop restricting free speech, or they will face consequences unlike anything America has seen since Teddy Roosevelt was president,” she added.
Yes, it is a civil rights issue. But unless or until these platforms are stripped of their censorship protections under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, they’ll never stop locking out opinions and facts they don’t like.
